A keen sailor from the age of 10, Alan has raced in many regattas throughout New Zealand including …

He worked with Lidgard Sails for 6 years prior to moving to Fiji to assist with Lidgard’s franchise loft setup in Suva. Alan joined Asia Pacific, as their representative sail-maker in 1991.

Alan and his wife then moved to Hong Kong to join Neil Pride Sails in China and continued his sail-making development.
During his time overseas, Alan raced keel boats in Hong Kong and China, after then deciding to move back to Fiji to gain the company Asia Pacific from Fiji sailor and his longtime friend, the late Colin Philp.

Alan then established Marshall Sails in 1995.

He opened a sail loft in Lautoka where he began to repair and manufacture sails, training his wife’s nephew Solomani in the process, who now leads the sail-making department at Marshall Sails today.

During his time in Fiji, Alan has been involved with teaching kids to sail at Vuda Marina, racing and representing Fiji in the South Pacific Games in laser class and racing on Hobie cats at the Hobie worlds hosted in Fiji.

He is now joined by his daughter, who has spent 10 years in the super-yacht industry specifically on sail-yachts and has decided to assist her father in the business.

The company has been operating for over 25 years and continues to provide quality service to sailors, local resorts and marine-linked customers and friends.
